Almada Negreiros exhibition

The exhibition dedicated to the work of Almada Negreiros, which is divided into two, is on display at the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga (MNAA) and at the Monastery of Batalha. One of the exhibitions is entitled Almada Negreiros e os Painéis. um retábulo imaginado para o Mosteiro da Batalha [Almada Negreiros and the Panels. an imagined altarpiece for the Monastery of Batalha], being complemented by another, dedicated to the same theme, entitled Almada Negreiros e o Mosteiro da Batalha: quinze pinturas primitivas num retábulo imaginado [Almada Negreiros and the Monastery of Batalha: fifteen primitive paintings in an imagined altarpiece].

Until December 21st, the exhibition Almada Negreiros e o Mosteiro da Batalha: quinze pinturas primitivas num retábulo imaginado, which celebrates a daring and original idea by the Portuguese artist, is on display at Monastery of Batalha. The opening of the exhibition includes the launch of a homonymous book dedicated to the investigation of Almada Negreiros on Primitive Portuguese Painting, with the publication of studies notebooks, models and unpublished drawings by the author.

The exhibition Almada Negreiros e os Painéis. Um retábulo imaginado para o Mosteiro da Batalha, on display until April 25th at the Museu nacional de Arte Antiga, marks the beginning of a major restoration campaign for the São Vicente Panels, attributed to the painter Nuno Gonçalves, coinciding with the anniversary of the 50 years since the death of the painter José de Almada Negreiros (1893-1970). The exhibition is curated by Simão Palmeirim.
