Isabel da Nóbrega – 100 years: Centenary celebrations

2025 marks the centenary of the birth of Isabel da Nóbrega (1925-2021), one of the most important Portuguese writers of the 20th century.

To celebrate her life and work, a wide-ranging programme of commemorations is taking place, with events organised by various academic and cultural institutions. Exhibitions, colloquia, reading cycles, workshops and publications are planned. These initiatives, which run from May 20th to June 27th, aim to recover and enhance Isabel da Nóbrega’s literary legacy, bringing it to new generations of readers.

A tribute organised as part of the research project  Portuguese women writers during Military Dictatorship and Estado Novo in Portugal, Africa, Asia and countries of emigration, a partnership between IELT – NOVA FCSH, CICS.NOVA/Faces of Eva and CRILUS/Études Romanes (Paris Nanterre University).
