Print Culture and Public Spheres in Central Europe 1500–1800

On December 9th at Colégio Almada Negreiros and online, researcher Inês Thomas Almeida will present the COST Action Print Culture and Public Spheres in Central Europe 1500-1800 (PCPSce) and explain the procedures for anyone wishing to join the network.

The COST Actions promote cooperation networks between researchers from various countries, funding participation in conferences, mobility and scientific missions, among other things. PCPSce is funded until 2028 by the COST Association – European Cooperation in Science and Technology and already has 100 researchers from 23 countries.

It explores the cultural, economic and social topography of print culture and its impact on the formation and consolidation of public spheres in Central Europe between 1500 and 1800. Legal provisions, dissemination and circulation, censorship, materialities (typography, paper industry, watermarks, etc.), literary and musical genres, are some of the possible topics to be addressed. This session will present the general principles and themes of this COST Action and how to take part.
