The call for papers for the III International Conference CEMS 2022: The Materiality of Modernism is now open.

The event aims to encourage reflection on a paradigm shift, occurring over the last decades, in which a greater attention dedicated to the study of media and to the concept of materiality has changed the ways in which we analyse literary and artistic codes and artefacts, as well as their forms of production and transmission. This shift has had a particular impact on modernist studies, opening the concept at a spatio-temporal level and also at the level of the works and authors included in the “canon”, enabling an ever increasing affirmation of the term “modernisms” instead of  “modernism”.

Those interested in participating should send their proposals until August 31st to cems2022.lisbon@gmail.com. Selected papers will be published in a post-conference volume.
