IELT makes available, in open access, the ebook Ropicapnefma. The work integrates the collection “Portuguese Dialogues”.
Ropicapnefma, or Mercadoria Espiritual [Spiritual Merchandise], is a dialogue written in the 16th. Century by the Humanist João de Barros. Four fictional characters – Reason, Time, Will, and Understanding – find themselves on the border between this world and the afterlife and participate in a discussion about the principles of the Christian and Catholic faith. This critical edition follows the standards of IELT’s Portuguese Dialogues collection and is complemented by a critical study, glossary, and index of proper names.
