The Digital Critical Edition of Almeida Garrett’s “Romanceiro” (Garrettonline) made available a new resource on BOOK II of the Romanceiro. This book, published in 1851, contained the “old chivalric romances of adventures, and that either have no reference to history, or are unknown to it”.

It is the critical-genetic edition of the novel D. Gaifeiros. Besides an exercise in “philological archaeology” that allows us to draw some important conclusions about the “Garrettian factory”, the edition includes variants (and facsimiles) of the Garrettian autograph manuscript that belongs to the Futscher Pereira Collection. This collection was acquired by the Portuguese State in 2014 and is in the custody of the General Library of the University of Coimbra.

The Garrettonline project proposes to make available the digital critical-genetic edition of Almeida Garrett’s Romanceiro, using autograph manuscripts and enlarging the corpus of the romantic editor.
