Nicolás Asensio Jiménez on 90 Segundos de Ciência

Researcher Nicolás Asensio Jiménez was on 90 Segundos de Ciência talking about the project he is developing: The Golden Age of the Romancero: Echoes of traditional ballads in Medieval and Early Modern Spanish Literature (GOLDEN-Rom).

Under the guidance of Teresa Araújo, Nicolás Asensio Jiménez is identifying, cataloging, and studying a corpus of around 2000 references to novels in Spanish literature from the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries, compiled by one of the first European philologists, María Goyri.

The main objective of the project started in 2021 is to study the interpolation of romances in Spanish literature of the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries. It is articulated with the IELT’s Literary revisions: the creative application of ancient ballads (15th-18th centuries) project which pursues the same purpose within Portuguese literature.
