Santander Chair – History of Philosophy

Luisa Buarque, Professor at the Department of Philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and Post-Doctorate in Philosophy from the universities of Sorbonne (France) and Coimbra, is the winner of this year’s Santander Chair. The theme of this edition is History of Philosophy.

The Chair, which will begin in early 2024, will be integrated into Nova Institute of Philosophy (FILNOVA), and Institute for the Study of Literature and Tradition (IELT), and will be taught in the Departments of Philosophy and Portuguese Studies. Luisa Buarque will offer students from all degree programmes, particularly those in Philosophy and Portuguese Studies, a curricular unit which will apply her interdisciplinary method of working questions of ancient philosophy.
