International Conference: Teaching Literatures in Portuguese

The International Conference: Teaching  Literatures in Portuguese will take place on October 27th at NOVA FCSH (Auditorium B1).

This event aims to promote a reflection on the teaching of Portuguese literatures, considering pedagogical methodologies, the critical reevaluation of the established canon, and the potential ethical and political dilemmas underlying the conception of a literature class. The presentations and ensuing debate intend to ask questions such as: Is it possible to challenge the canon when teaching literatures in Portuguese? or How to teach the canon of literatures in Portuguese in the 21st century?

On this day, we will also hold the launch of the latest special edition of the Portuguese Literary & Cultural Studies journal, dedicated to the Teaching of Literatures in Portuguese and co-edited by Ana Bela Almeida (University of Liverpool) and Joana Meirim (IELT – NOVA FCSH).
