The 10th Luso-Brazilian DIAITA Colloquium on the History and Cultures of Food: Everyday Tables & Festive Tables will take place at the University of Coimbra from October 24th to 26th.

The act of eating merges with the condition of human existence. Everyday meals involve availability and access to food. Feasting, on the other hand, is characterised by its exceptionality. It fulfils the need for sociability and brings together food, gestures and multiple representations of power, ostentation, wealth and sharing.
