Launch: Assombrações and Desconhecido na morada

The GHOST – Spectrality: Literature and the Arts (Portugal and Brazil) project is in its final stage and is celebrating two years of work with the launch of two books: Assombrações: a inscrição do fantasma [Hauntings: the ghost’s inscription] and Desconhecido na morada: a carta no cinema [Unknown at the address: the letter in the cinema].

This project maps the presence of ghostly and supernatural themes across Portuguese and Brazilian literature, film, and photography from the 19th to 21st centuries. It examines how the ghost – both as a literal figure and as metaphor – challenges our understanding of materiality and raises questions about the nature of representation itself.

The launch will take place on February 26th at Linha de Sombra bookstore and will be attended by Pedro Mexia and the project’s authors and coordinators Clara Rowland and José Bértolo.
