The seminar of the project RELIT-Rom: Literary revisions: the creative application of ancient ballads (15th-18th centuries) takes place on May 17th at NOVA FCSH. The meeting will be attended by Pere Ferré, Teresa Araújo, Ana Sirgado e Sandra Boto.

The RELIT-Rom project develops a programme for the (re)reading of the references to old Peninsular ballads “romanceiro” (an epic-lyrical genre with medieval origins and European balladry) that are part of the literary works of Portuguese authors of the 15th-17th centuries, as devices for the creation of ideological, poetic and musical effects that are almost unnoticeable to most of the public today, due to the scarce general knowledge of the old romanceiro.

The project is funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Foundation for Science and Technology through the Institute for the Study of Literature and Tradition. Meeting poster here.
